Rural Sustainability 2: Facing the common climate challenge (2022-2023)

In February 2022, the Cederna Garalur Association together with the Local Action Groups of Navarra began the project ‘Rural Sustainability: Facing the common climate challenge’.

Funded by the Government of Navarra and the European Union, through the Cooperation Line of the Navarra PDR Rural Development Program 2014-2020, the project has completed in August 2023.

In this cooperation project we participate:

  • Local action group of the Eder consortium (Ribera de Navarra).
  • Cederna Garalur (North Zone of Navarra)
  • TEDER Association (Estella Land)
  • Local Action Group Middle Zone (Middle Zone of Navarra).

objectives and actions.

«Rural Sustainability 2» aims to accompany the rural territories of Navarra in its ecological transition, helping to meet the commitments to reduce greenhouse gases and adaptation to the effects of climate change.

This accompaniment will consist of a coordinated local technical service between all the local action groups of Navarra. Its main function will be to inform in rural areas about the opportunities that are being presented for public entities, local businesses and homes to make conscious and informed decisions to achieve more sustainable and resilient territories.

Within the framework of this project, Cederna Garalur has focused its actions on three axes of work:

local entities:

The advice and accompaniment to local entities has three lines of work, which consist of the accompaniment of actions identified in the action plans for climate and energy (PACES) for its execution, search for financing and carrying out pilot experiences.

Local businesses:

Offering a personalized energy consultation service to local businesses, solving doubts about their energy contracts, identifying opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of their establishments, and reporting on lines of financing.

In this way, we facilitate the transition of the companies from the mountains of Navarra towards a more circular economy, which results in an economic benefit and with it, contributes to its competitiveness.

energy communities.

Self-consumption will be encouraged in local entities, residential sector and energy communities through dissemination talks and attention to citizen consultations in this matter.

In addition, we will attend to private citizen consultations to optimize energy consumption as well as economic savings, and promote the use of renewable energies, through self-consumption facilities, electrical recharging point installations, virtual batteries, etc.
