Rural sustainability

Since July 2020, three Navarrese territories have been working together to Inform, advise and accompany local entities and citizens in the implementation of measures aimed at saving in the electricity bill, improving energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energy in the rural area.

Introduction

Rural Sustainability/Landa Iraunkortasuna It is a cooperation project in which the Cederna Garalur Association, the TEDER Consortium and the Middle Zone Consortium participate.

The project is financed through the Cooperation Measure of the Navarra Rural Development Program 2014-2020.

Rural Sustainability/Landa Iraunkortasuna has among its objectives Guarantee technical support to local entities adhered to the initiative “Pact of the Mayor’s Office for the Climate, assuming the commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030, improving energy efficiency, using renewable energy sources and implementing measures to adapt to the consequences of climate change.

Along with this technical support, the project seeks to promote new measures in rural territories through  a Advice service and personalized support, , Aimed at local entities and citizens on savings measures in the electricity bill, energy efficiency that results in the reduction of energy consumption and the implementation of renewable energies.

Linked to this, another of the objectives has to do with raising awareness about the need and opportunity to incorporate energy saving measures, as well as the promotion of renewable energy for the consolidation of New more sustainable energy models.

The project began in July 2020 and will continue throughout 2021.

Objectives

  • Guarantee technical support from rural development groups to local entities adhering to the “Mayorship Pact” initiative coordinated by Nasuvinsa.
  • Promote savings and energy efficiency, as well as the implementation of renewable energies in rural territories, providing a technical service of advice and support in this matter to local entities and the citizens of the cooperating territories.
  • Promote the grouping and collaboration of local territorial entities with the aim of promoting sustainability actions based on savings, energy efficiency and promotion of renewables in these territories.
  • Communicate, raise awareness and disseminate the need to incorporate actions to promote savings, energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energy in local entities in the integral development of the rural environment and generate empathy in the local population of the territories.

Description and lines of work

This project is aimed at informing, advising and accompanying local entities and citizens, on the economic, social and environmental benefits of collective actions that allow savings in the electricity bill, the improvement of energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energies in the rural area.

The “Rural Sustainability” project includes various actions in two areas of work: local entities and citizens.

  • Counseling and support in the Climate and Energy Pacts Initiative, managed by Nasuvinsa.
  • Advice to local entities in control and reduction of energy consumption and implementation of renewable energies.
  • Accompaniment in carrying out an inventory of public energy-consuming facilities (public lighting and public building).
  • Review of energy contracts, visits to facilities for  Propose energy improvement measures.
  • Advice for the creation of energy communities.
  • Viability analysis of heat networks and energy networks.

Citizenship

  • Personalized technical service on the billing of electricity, as well as savings and energy efficiency measures and the use of renewable energy.
  • Advice on energy contracts and the processing of the social bond.
  • Studies for the implementation of renewable energy facilities, using local resources, such as forest biomass, mini-hydraulics and photovoltaic solar for self-consumption.
